Hi, all, and happy Tuesday!
First of all, I can’t recommend the above Instagram post highly enough. You’ll have to click on the picture or go here to read the whole thread. It’s AMAZING.
Second, I want to say something in response to a commenter who found some of the script language in yesterday’s email to be “snarky.”
Any script I write—any script at all—is yours to customize. You should customize it. While my tone was in no way meant to be unpleasant, if the language feels that way to you simply adapt it to suit your style! Whether phonebanking or calling my reps I rarely—if ever—repeat a script verbatim. Please don’t feel that you need to, either.
Speaking of calls, let’s make some! SO MUCH going on, and the only thing standing in the way of chaos is…well, millions of us doing our part.
Call Your Senators (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
I’m calling because I believe any recovery package must invest in the Care Economy. I want the Senator to:
Cosponsor S.1398 the Universal Child Care and Early Learning Act
Support a federal Universal Paid Leave program
Fight for $450 billion for Home and Community-Based Services
Additionally, increasing the overall size of recovery by including a pathway to citizenship, lowering drug prices, and making historic investments in affordable housing, green jobs, and combating climate change are critical priorities for recovery.
Will the Senator support these policy priorities? Thanks. [H/T]
Call Your House Rep (find yours here)

Extra Credit
Please email this to President Biden. PERSONALIZING IT WITH A SENTENCE OR TWO OF YOUR OWN MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE! [H/T and petition]
I’m writing as someone deeply worried about climate change to ask you to please stop the Line 3 tar sands pipeline.
Your administration did the right thing by cancelling the permit for Keystone XL.
Like Keystone XL, the Line 3 tar sands pipeline is a threat to our climate and water and violates Native American treaty rights.
The permits for this massive expansion were issued without proper review by the Trump Administration. The Army Corps of Engineers refused to prepare a federal Environmental Impact Statement for Line 3, even though the project would cross hundreds of bodies of water including the Mississippi headwaters.
I urge you to revoke or amend Line 3’s presidential permit, as you did for Keystone XL, and direct the Army Corps of Engineers to immediately reevaluate and suspend or revoke the Line 3 project’s Clean Water Act Section 404 permit.
Please take action to both honor treaty rights and science by stopping the construction of this dangerous pipeline. Please create good jobs by investing in clean water and clean energy for all our communities. Thanks.

Resistbot Text (new to Resistbot? Go here!)
[To all 3 reps and President Biden] [H/T]
I am writing about the situation in Afghanistan. I want to ask a few things:
First, we need to fix the SIV issue and make it easier for folks who have helped Americans overseas to get visas to come here.
Second, we need to get rid of permanent AUMFs. They are a blank check for endless, fruitless wars; our country has been irreparably harmed by the authorization of the 2001 one.
Finally, I’m furious to learn that the DoD has received 2 trillion dollars from a slush fund called the OCO that gets authorized every year. Why does the DoD have such a slush fund when Medicaid doesn’t? This is unacceptable. There is a 3.5 trillion dollar package before Congress that is desperately needed here at home, but many Republicans and some Democrats say we can’t afford to pass it. Yet EVERY YEAR we give 2 T to the military to spend on efforts that achieve NOTHING? No. This can’t happen anymore.
We need SIV reform. We need to get rid of the OCO. And the endless AUMFs. We need to care for ourselves, and stop throwing money away on ineffective nation building. Thanks.
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk tomorrow.
