Hi, all, and happy Wednesday!
I’m on a Movement Voter Project call right now that is just incredible. It is heartening, encouraging, and moving. We are hearing from grassroots leaders across the country who run organizations that will determine whether or not we win in November. They’re excited, focussed, and very clear-eyed. I can’t tell you how much hope it’s instilling.
But it’s also making me nervous—because these organizations have huge funding gaps. One critical Arizona organization, LUCHA, which does a huge amount of outreach to Latino voters in the state, for example, has a 13M funding gap. Thirteen million!
So this seems like a good time to announce that one of my subscribers has offered—wait for it—a 50K matching fund for donations to Movement Voter PAC. FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS! Wow! MVP, of course, is the organization funding grassroots groups like LUCHA across the country—and especially in swing states. They are one of the top places to which I recommend giving money, and they need a lot of it ASAP.
I know I ask you to donate to a lot of different places, and frequently. And you’ve come through, over and over. Did I mention we made our second Run For Something 10K match in just over a week, by the way? THANK YOU!
I will say, however, that this MVP fund may be the single best place to give right now. The grassroots groups MVP funds are the ones on the ground doing the work that will make the difference. They have the relationships. Their communities trust them. Campaigns can do a lot, but organizations who live where they organize are an entirely different—and more powerful—animal.
So please help us make this match if you can. Time is of the essence.
One final thing: if you haven’t yet watched VP Harris’s Milwaukee speech from yesterday please, please do. I cried, I whooped, I clapped—I totally freaked my dog out. It was a brilliant launch.
Harris is a perfect candidate for this moment. Any doubts I may have had—and they were few—were dispelled after watching her speech. Because not only is Harris strong, and qualified, and brilliant, and composed, and experienced, and ebullient, but she has got a message, y’all! She is not just bringing the fight to Trump in a way that only a woman in this moment can—and a woman of color!—but she has a clear, progressive vision for the future and she communicates it effortlessly. Her messaging is top notch. Her slogan? “We won’t go backwards.”
It’s perfect.
We’ve got the candidate we need, my friends. We’ve got the candidate history needs. It’s up to us to do the rest.
And I absolutely know we can. So let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work one more time.

Jess, I have been a sustaining donor for MVP for 6 years. And I have hosted parties, in person and by zoom, to raise funds.
So while I am so appreciative of all that you are doing--I continue to be overwhelmed with donation requests. And having just checked my Act Blue account, I am well over this year's donation budget for candidates and grassroots organizations--and there are still more than 4 months to go.
Like so many of your readers who are donating and post carding (and don't forget the cost of stamps in all of this)and phone banking, I am fired up now and EXHAUSTED.
I am hoping that at some point we will look at the absurdity of spending billions of dollars for electing quality candidates. This seems to be a black hole that we can't get out of.
