Abbot has called out the national guard in Texas specifically for the No Kings demonstrations. People here in my Venice neighborhood are telling me they fear going to the demonstrations- of course instilling fear is the point of all this. I’m afraid but I’ll be downtown Saturday, provided we still have our constitutional right to assembly. I’ll be in my clown costume as per Women’s March request. I know I won’t be there alone!

I hadn't heard about the clown costumes. Thank you for sharing. A really good idea to protect identities tbh.

I want everyone to understand. The threat is on your data! This is how they will try to control us! Work hard Rep Larson. DO NOT take your eye off the real threat!

Maybe National Guard will not be called into certain states because ICE has already contracted to train and deputize county and/or municipal law enforcement to work on its behalf. Focus on peaceful No Kings Day, but be aware:

I see Florida “leads” the way…sigh.

On a + note,in an effort to distract from his ongoing scandal DeSantis offered to send the fledgling Fl State Guard to California.I see Gov Newsom declined.👊

PROTECT THE PEACEFUL PROTEST

THE SIT-DOWN WAVE

What to do if violence breaks out at a protest:

1. SIT DOWN-TOGETHER

Lower yourself to the ground immediately.

Stay where you are.

2. SILENCE IS POWER

Stop chanting, put down signs, and remain silent.

3. SPREAD THE SIGNAL

Gesture or quietly tell others to sit.

Let the action ripple through the crowd like a wave.

4. DO NOT ENGAGE

Don't argue, confront, or respond to aggression.

Discipline speaks for itself.

5. MAKE PEACE VISIBLE

A calm, seated crowd is a powerful image for the world

-and the cameras - to see.

Nonviolence is powerful, strategic, and united.

Larsen gained in recognition and popularity after he "got loud" in Congress. Thank you Jess for holding our Reps accountable, and lighting a fire under their feet.

I think it would be beneficial for all of us to bring our US Flag to Saturday Protest and

all recite the pledge of allegiance

Hi Jess - I so appreciate your reporting. Of course this is a manufactured crisis made worse by FOX News. Here is an action to take. Fox has advertisers and it is time they heard that we are upset with them for paying money to an organization who is trying to dismantle our country.

Here is a list of companies that support the lying FOX News. GlaxoSmithKline, Liberty Mutual, General Motors, Procter & Gamble, Intuit, NortonLifeLock, Nestle, Kraft Heinz, Progressive, Charles Schwab, Toyota, and Subaru.

Click the link below to send their CEOs an email demanding they divorce their corporations from an organization that is dedicated to destroying our democracy.

When I called my Congresswoman this morning, the woman I spoke with to ask why it was OK to spend $180 million on performative nonsense like a parade in DC and Guardsmen and Marines in LA where no riots were taking place she was audibly relieved when I told her I had no interest in killing the messenger. I gathered two things from this: 1) they are getting a lot of calls, which is excellent, and 2) not everyone is being polite to the staffers who answer the phone, which is not. These are mostly young folks who aren't making policy and don't deserve abuse. We should reserve that for their bosses whenever we can address them directly.

Call. Write. Email. Protest peacefully. Unrelentingly.

Use/share this spreadsheet as a resource to call/email/write members of Congress, the Cabinet and news organizations. Reach out to your own reps, as well as those in other states on a specific committee important to a topic you’re sharing. Use your voice and make some “good trouble.”

I’m writing you here in hopes that this is a place that you will see it. Have you heard of HR 1399? It’s a bill that criminalizes gender affirming care for both parents and kids. Marjorie, the worst Taylor Greene apparently introduced it and it got through committee and now is going to the house floor? I don’t know why we haven’t heard about this before this!

What's happening now in the US is hard to fathom; my parents and grandparents would NEVER have believed this if told to them 50 years ago. Hell, I'm here living through it and can hardly accept that all this chaos is occurring.
