Hi, all, and happy Thursday.
The good news: a survey is out this morning showing that global confidence in the US president has rebounded mightily with Biden at the helm.
The bad news: The same survey finds that people in the advanced economies surveyed “are largely skeptical that democracy in the U.S. is a good example for other countries to follow.”
We have a lot of work to do.
But let’s not despair. Let’s just get busy. That’s something we’re very, very good at.
Call Your Senators (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
First, I’m sure the Senator is aware that across the country, at least 30 states have passed or are considering discriminatory anti-trans laws. I find this horrifying and unacceptable. Fortunately, there is a bill waiting for a vote in the Senate that would do something about this, a bill that 7 in 10 Americans support, including 50% of Republicans! It’s the Equality Act, and I want the Senator to fight to pass it now, during Pride month.
I also support the For the People Act, and want the Senator to make protecting our right to vote his/her top priority.
[If Dem Add] Please abolish the filibuster. It’s a Jim Crow relic that’s still stopping civil rights legislation. It’s got to go.
Call Your House Rep (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is _______.
First, I want to say that I strongly support the recent Medicare Expansion proposal from congressional Democrats, which would lower the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 60, include dental, vision, and hearing care for all Medicare recipients, and cover the costs by empowering Medicare to negotiate drug prices as the VA does. Please include these provisions in the American Family Plan. [H/t]
Also, please ask the Congressmember to co-sponsor the Stronger Communities through Better Transit Act, H.R. 3744, introduced on Tuesday. It would provide $20 billion annually for four years ($80B total) to transit systems for their operating budgets. This is critical to meet our climate goals. Thanks.

The Water Protectors in MN who are protesting to stop Line 3 need our help.
Please call Governor Tim Walz & Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan at 651-201-3400 or 800-657-3717
and say:
"I understand that during a peaceful protest water protectors were buzzed with a low flying Homeland Security helicopter and attacked with a sound cannon. This is unacceptable. Further, some have been held for too long without being booked and denied prescription medications. I'm asking that these peaceful protestors be treated fairly and released now. And no more military-style responses to their actions, please. Thanks."

[To all 3 reps] [H/T]
I’m writing on this, the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, in the name of those who died and the survivors and descendants who’ve had to carry the memory of that day.
As my representative I want you to support H.R. 3466 – the “Tulsa-Greenwood Massacre Claims Accountability Act,” as well as H.R. 40/S.40] – “Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans Act.”
In addition, I expect you to block every bill that attempts to criminalize or otherwise suppress the transmission of accurate American history, including those that refer specifically to critical race theory. Thank you.
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk tomorrow.
