Regarding calling Reps that aren’t yours, I’m often prompted to leave a message especially if after hours or on w-ends. I just state my name and the message.. Let them assume I’m a constituent when I “forget”to state where I live.

What does Clean Debt Ceiling mean to Trumpy Republicans? I just called our Congresswoman and the guy who answered kept putting words in my mouth, You support a Clean Debt Ceiling. I feel like I’ve been snookered which is why thus lifelong Republican has only Voted Blue since 2016.

1,000% agree about the power of "Run For Something"...they channel the frustration (and hope) for the future of this country into into hundreds of local races.

They're focused, organized, energized, and they run candidates who represent (and are passionate about) their local communities.

They're also younger, with fresh ideas and a willingness to fight for their values.

Okay, Jessica, you did it again--got me to call a Repub rep from my state of Washington, take the Resistbot action and send a donation check to Run for Something. You know all the right moves!

I so agree with Jessica and hw's comment, Run For Something absolutely rocks!!! Since 2017 RFS has recruited 60,000 young people to run for local office all across the country.

To learn about their work, and the difference they are making, I suggest you listen to several of their podcasts (66 episodes) at "Run For Something" on Apple Podcasts. Sadly Amanda Litman stopped creating these at the end of Dec, 2021. Thankfully they are still there for you to listen to. Most are around 30 minutes long. In each one she introduces you to one of the people they have helped get elected to office. You hear the person's story of their life and how RFS worked to help them win their seat, or run for re-election. So many of the stories are completely inspiring. Drug addicts getting straight, running for office and winning. Or sometimes not. Homeless people, single moms, as well as regular people who just got ticked off and ran for office. Positions from City Clerk to State Representative, and more. RFS's goal is to build the Democratic bench from the ground up, to help people under 40 get into politics in a big way so they will be there for years to come to help Americans. And now they have a Substack column!!! Yay!! Check them out people!!
