Hi, all, and happy Tuesday!
Election Days turn me into an anxious wreck.
Fortunately, I know what to do with all of those nerves: channel them into talking to voters! And that’s what I plan on doing pretty much all day today. It’s the best way to manage the jitters, but I also consider it a pleasure. And, honestly, a necessity. With democracy hanging by a thread I feel the need to fight for every vote. Perhaps you do as well. If so, I’ve given you several ways to do so below.
A friendly reminder: I’ll be giving a quick pep talk at the top the Environmental Voter Project’s 4-6pm EST / 1-3pm PST phonebank today. We’ll be calling into Houston, Texas, Wichita, Kansas, and Wyandotte County, Kansas to help get out the environmental vote for their municipal elections. Sign up here if you’d like to join us. I’m also attending their VA phonebank before that, from 12-2 PT / 3-5 ET. EVP’s Executive Director, Nathaniel Stinnett, will provide a short briefing on the latest early vote data from across EVP’s target states before we start calling. Should be fun and informative! Sign up here.
Oh, and I’ll be on the Grassroots Dems phonebank at 11AM PT to hear from Brian Tyler Cohen and make some calls. Join us there!
Like I said, let’s leave it all on the field.
Even if you can’t help today, thank you for all you’ve done to get us to today. Thanks for every postcard and letter you’ve written, every text you’ve sent, every phone call you’ve made, every dollar you’ve given, every friend you’ve nudged, every door you’ve knocked. There are so many ways we can spend our time, our money, and our mental energy. The fact that so many of you have spent so much of all of the above on these races fills me with joy and gratitude.
It is an honor to walk this road with you.
Now let’s get to work!
P.S. For obvious reasons this is an abbreviated newsletter today. I’m sure you don’t mind. (:
Election Night Watch Party! 🥳
Blue Ohio is having a Virtual Election Night Watch gathering to watch the Issue 1 election results come in and they hope you'll be able to join.
They'll be joined by a number of guests from all over Ohio (and the country). Congressman Jamie Raskin and OH statehouse Minority Leader Allison Russo will be joining. Also Simon Rosenberg – veteran pollster and author of the Hopium Chronicles on Substack!
They'll kick things off at 7:30 eastern as the polls close. They're expecting a big (virtual) crowd, so please register in advance by clicking here.
Get Smart! 📚
This will be fun and interesting:
Navigator is hosting a joint partner and press briefing tomorrow, November 8th, to review their Navigating the Battleground polling. It will primarily focus on party perceptions and abortion. If you find polling interesting you’ll love this event.

Resistbot Letter (new to Resistbot? Go here! And then here.) 💻
[to all 3 reps] [H/T
] [Text SIGN PDOAER to 50409 to Resistbot at 50409 or via Apple Messages / WHATSAPP / MESSENGER]A new CDC report has found that US infant mortality rates rose by 3% in 2022, with significant increases among Native Americans and white non-Hispanics, and among male babies. This is appalling and worrying. It must be addressed.
Leading causes of death were maternal complications and bacterial sepsis of newborns. Health policies that affect mothers and children (or more accurately, lack thereof) are also a significant cause. Could abortion bans also be contributing? We simply don’t know.
We do know that infant mortality rose significantly in four states: Georgia, Iowa, Missouri, and Texas. It’s time to find out why.
Please co-sponsor the NEWBORN Act (S.2978 and H.R.5789), which, if passed, would “create infant mortality-focused pilot programs in the highest-risk areas of the country.”
In the wealthiest country in the world infant mortality rates should not be increasing. We need to get to the bottom of this immediately. Please support the quick passage of these bills so we can begin to find out what’s gone wrong. Thanks.
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk soon.
Jess

Hey, Jessica, I live in DC and I'm committed to VA, so, thanks to your cheerleading by example, I knocked on doors Sat and I'm phone banking today. I'll be on with Brian TC and then see what I can do after that (I already got the training earlier today.)
I'm remembering the energy of your training (I think for Markers?) and that's what I'm trying to bring.
Love and blessings,
