Hi, all, and happy Tuesday!
Election Days turn me into an anxious wreck.
Fortunately, I know what to do with all of those nerves: channel them into talking to voters! And that’s what I plan on doing pretty much all day today. It’s the best way to manage the jitters, but I also consider it a pleasure. And, honestly, a necessity. With democracy hanging by a thread I feel the need to fight for every vote. Perhaps you do as well. If so, I’ve given you several ways to do so below.
A friendly reminder: I’ll be giving a quick pep talk at the top the Environmental Voter Project’s 4-6pm EST / 1-3pm PST phonebank today. We’ll be calling into Houston, Texas, Wichita, Kansas, and Wyandotte County, Kansas to help get out the environmental vote for their municipal elections. Sign up here if you’d like to join us. Even if you can’t help today, thank you for all you’ve done to get us to today. Thanks for every postcard and letter you’ve written, every text you’ve sent, every phone call you’ve made, every dollar you’ve given, every friend you’ve nudged, every door you’ve knocked. There are so many ways we can spend our time, our money, and our mental energy. The fact that so many of you have spent so much of all of the above on these races fills me with joy and gratitude.
It is an honor to walk this road with you.

Blue Ohio is having a Virtual Election Night Watch gathering to watch the Issue 1 election results come in and they hope you'll be able to join.

] [Text SIGN PDOAER to 50409 to Resistbot at 50409 or via Apple Messages / WHATSAPP / MESSENGER]A new CDC report has found that US infant mortality rates rose by 3% in 2022, with significant increases among Native Americans and white non-Hispanics, and among male babies. This is appalling and worrying. It must be addressed.
Leading causes of death were maternal complications and bacterial sepsis of newborns. Health policies that affect mothers and children (or more accurately, lack thereof) are also a significant cause. Could abortion bans also be contributing? We simply don’t know.
We do know that infant mortality rose significantly in four states: Georgia, Iowa, Missouri, and Texas. It’s time to find out why.
Please co-sponsor the NEWBORN Act (S.2978 and H.R.5789), which, if passed, would “create infant mortality-focused pilot programs in the highest-risk areas of the country.”
In the wealthiest country in the world infant mortality rates should not be increasing. We need to get to the bottom of this immediately. Please support the quick passage of these bills so we can begin to find out what’s gone wrong. Thanks.
