Hi, all, and happy Thursday!
Hope you’re all hanging in there. What a tiring week (month/year/half a decade!) I phonebanked for four hours straight yesterday. And the day before. I know you’re all working equally hard. THANK YOU.
Need a boost? Read this new Michael Moore piece about youth voters. And this latest Simon Rosenberg thread about the early vote, which is getting better for Dems.
I know. You’re all saying: “But the polls!”
I’ve said it before—and I’m mostly echoing folks smarter than me—a) the polling aggregates are distorted by GOP-biased polls, b) polls are guesswork based on “likely voters;” these assume a lack of Dem enthusiasm, which is absolutel nonsense, as anyone doing GOTV work knows, c) Donald Trump was losing in EVERY poll in 2016 d) polls screwed up the last four special elections, e) THIS ⬇️
Do you see the difference between the generic Congressional ballot and the actual early vote? Measured on the same day? Massive. Republicans are going to need a huge turnout on Election Day to overcome it. They’ve taught their voters not to vote by mail or early. Many of their voters are elderly. This is not a good strategy.
Y’all. I’ll say it again: My gut is exceedingly positive on this election. I’ve almost never felt such confidence. The GOP is kicking dirt in our eyes, electorally speaking, but it won’t work unless we give up and stay home. I see no signs of that happening.
But. My gut notwithstanding, polls not withstanding, early voting numbers notwithstanding, tea leaves, pundits, Simon Rosenberg, the Dalai Lama notwithstanding—it doesn’t matter what ANYONE thinks.
It matters what we do.
So keep going. I’m right here with you. We’ll rest on the 9th.
Call Your Senators (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
I’m calling once again to ask the Senator to co-sponsor and support S 736, the Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2022 and also S.190, Ethan’s Law. Nothing will change in America until Congress gets serious about gun safety. I will not vote for any lawmaker who opposes these bills. Thanks.
When Republicans Win, YOU LOSE
One of my readers asked in the comments if anyone had made this into a meme yet. She then listed a variety of elements to put into said meme, if anyone felt like making it.
I can’t make memes. But her comment was so well composed that I used it to make a TikTok. Feel free to share. I’ll post it on my IG feed after I publish today, too.
Extra Credit ✅
The Trump administration removed animal welfare provisions from the standards for organic livestock in 2018, meaning that just because something is labeled 'organic' it doesn't mean the animals were treated humanely. But now that we have a new administration, we have an opportunity to fix that and ensure the standards are clear, effective, and implemented quickly to protect animals now!
Please sign this letter to the USDA asking them to strengthen and implement the Organic Livestock and Poultry Standard now!

Earlier this year, Equifax's "coding glitch," affected the credit scores of millions of Americans. Congress needs to act to protect consumers from the big three national credit bureaus.
I urge you to require the credit bureaus to pay hefty fines when they put people's credit at risk. Penalties will require the credit bureaus to take data accuracy more seriously.
Please support a policy that requires notification to all consumers harmed by consumer violations made by the credit bureaus and credit score companies. Thanks!
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk tomorrow.
