Hi, all, and happy Tuesday!
We’re plugging along, with two more days of action (today and tomorrow) before a very long weekend. Let’s make them count.
Remember:
Action unifies people of good will.
Action eases anxiety.
Action moves important goals forward.
Action builds inner confidence, strength, and courage.
Action takes us out of our “hamster wheel” brains and into a feeling of empowerment.
Action is patriotism embodied. It’s faith embodied. It’s HOPE embodied.
Action works. Never forget it. 🙌🏼
Call Your Senators (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
I want the Senate to pass the Build Back Better Act now, please. We desperately need everything in it—don’t water it down and don’t delay.
I also support several other bills that are sitting in the Senate: the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act (S. 420), the Women’s Health Protection Act (S. 1975), the Equality Act (S. 393), the Judiciary Act (S. 1141), and, of course, the Freedom to Vote Act, which continues to be my absolute top priority. If we don’t have a democracy then none of the rest matters. [If Democrat add:] I want Democrats to abolish the filibuster to get these bills passed. Every one of them is essential, and the Republicans are no longer interested in anything but obstruction.
Call Your House Rep (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is _______.
I’m calling to say that I support HR 2584, the Judiciary Act, and want the Congressmember to as well. May I ask if they are signed on as a co-sponsor? [If yes thank. If no add:] Americans have utterly lost faith in the impartiality of the Supreme Court, and for good reason. It is a clearly partisan body; it needs to be rebalanced. Thanks.

Healthcare Voices has created a great tool for writing a letter to the editor about why the Senate needs to pass the Build Back Better Act. You can find it here. Take a few minutes to write about why the healthcare provisions in this bill would be life-altering for you. Forgot what’s in it? No worries! Go here!

Let’s call Deb Haaland at the Department of the Interior and ask her to restore protections to grey wolves, who are being slaughtered by the hundreds since Trump removed their endangered status.
(202) 208-3100 (press 3)
Say:
“Hi, my name is ____ I’m calling from _____. I’m calling because I’ve read that grey wolves are being slaughtered by the hundreds in states like Wisconsin, Idaho and Montana, and are also being subjected to cruel hunting practices like leg hold traps and snares. I know this is because the Trump administration removed their endangered species status in 2020, and the Biden administration hasn’t restored those protections. I also know that Tribal representatives recently came to DC to urge Interior Secretary Haaland to relist wolves under the Endangered Species Act, but were rejected twice. I find this really disappointing. I’m asking respectfully that Secretary Haaland issue emergency protections for gray wolves under the Endangered Species Act. Thanks.”

Please support Medicare expansion in the final Build Back Better package and get it to President Biden’s desk as soon as possible.
We need hearing coverage to be added to Medicare to help the 75% of seniors with hearing loss who can’t get hearing aids. And we need Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices so people don’t have to choose between bankruptcy and not receiving their medications.
These are the most popular elements of the package on a bipartisan basis, so I urge you to make sure Medicare expansion remains in Build Back Better and to pass this impressive package as soon as possible to help as many people as you can.
Thank you for your time.
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk tomorrow.
Jess
Thank you, and hope you have a restful Thanksgiving, if possible! 💜
