Hi, all, and happy Thursday!
Lots going on. Lots of opportunities to take action today. And while it feels like so much of what we’re doing is redundant, I will remind you for the hundredth time (yep, more redundancy) that this kind of repetition WORKS!
Grassroots activism works, too.
I’m seeing a ton of evidence of it here in CA, (you’ll have to listen to the podcast on Monday for details), and we’ll see a ton of evidence on a federal level if we just persist.
So let’s do that one more time.
P.S. If you’re in Los Angeles I have a scary number of postcards still to distribute. I’ll even use some of my excess computer money to ship you packets if you want. Just help me get these done!! Hit reply to get my address. Or give me yours and tell me how many packets of 20 you can do fast.
Call Your Senators (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
First, I want the Senator to protect a woman’s right to choose by supporting the Women’s Health Protection Act and the the Judiciary Act of 2021.
Second, I support the swift confirmation of Jonathan Kanter to lead the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. His record demonstrates that he will put American consumers and small businesses ahead of corporate monopolies and Big Tech.
Finally, the Senate MUST pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act NOW. [If Democrat add:] And Democrats need to abolish the filibuster to accomplish this and so many other important things. I’m tired of watching a Jim Crow relic obstruct progress.
Call Your House Rep (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is _______.
First, I want the Congressmember to support the Judiciary Act of 2021. Our Supreme Court is hopelessly compromised by partisan zealots. We need four more justices to rebalance the court.
Second, there are three housing bills I support: the Keeping Renters Safe Act; the Housing is a Human Right Act; and the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act. I’d like the representative to support all three.
[If Dem add:] Finally, climate change is going to be a disaster for our kids. Healthcare already is a disaster. So is our lack of paid family leave. And the fact that big corporations and the mega rich don’t pay their fair share is infuriating. Congress needs to pass the Build Back Better plan with all of its provisions, and make billionaires pay for it. Thanks.

Get Out Your Pretty Pens!
Y’all, Postcards to Swing States still has a LOT of cards to distribute for the November VA and NJ races. I just asked for another 1000, and I already have thousands of cards to get rid of here. 😜
They will send you everything—the cards, the script, the addresses. They need to be mailed by the 21st (although if you’re a couple of days later it’s probably fine). Unfortunately the lowest number of cards you can request is 200, but if you have a friend or family member to write with you can do it!
It’s free! It’s important! It’s easy! Can you help? Go here to request your cards.
Get on the Keyboards! ⌨️
Turn PA Blue needs volunteers right now to text a huge list of PA Democrats to vote by mail ahead of November's PA elections. A robust Vote By Mail program is our key to victory in 2021 and beyond. But in Pennsylvania, voters need reminders to apply for mail ballots every year.
Data shows that low-propensity Democratic voters were ten times more likely to vote in 2020 if they requested a mail-in ballot than those who did not.
Sign up to text Pennsylvania Democrats promoting voting by mail here. It's today from 3-7 EDT. It'll be fun, easy, and they'll provide training!

Our freedom to vote is under attack, but a ton of amazing people and organizations are organizing to take it back. Today a bunch of them are rallying together to talk about a path forward. It should be pretty incredible.
Join Martin Luther King III and Andrea Waters King, Ms. Helen Butler, Executive Director of the Georgia Coalition for the People's Agenda and Andrea Miller, Executive Director of the Center for Common Ground to learn about the upcoming Freedom to Vote Relay and Rally Oct. 21-23rd and to discuss how we can work together to pass legislation that will protect our freedom to vote.

I’m writing about two judicial nominees I want you to vote to confirm.
First, please support the nomination of Jennifer Sung to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. As an attorney who has dedicated her career to protecting the rights of others, she is an excellent choice for the federal appellate court serving people in the nine states comprising the Ninth Circuit. Jennifer Sung would be the first Asian American judge from Oregon to serve on the Ninth Circuit, bringing critically important professional and experiential diversity to the circuit. We need her on the federal bench.
Second, the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced Justice Beth Robinson’s nomination to serve on the 9th Circuit. Justice Robinson’s distinguished career and demonstrated dedication to civil rights make her eminently qualified to serve on this court. Not only that—there are over 11 million LGBTQ+ adults in the United States, and over 937,000 of them live in the 2nd Circuit. If confirmed, Justice Beth Robinson would be the first LGBTQ+ woman not only on the 2nd Circuit, but on *any* federal circuit court. It’s past time.
Please vote yes on both Jennifer Sung and Beth Robinson. Thanks.
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk tomorrow.
