Hi, all, and happy Friday!
TGIF, indeed.
The hearings yesterday were historic. To say that they were really, really worth watching is a sweeping understatement. If you haven’t yet seen them I’m going to highly recommend you make a point of finding them on YouTube and taking the time to view every minute. Why? Well, beyond all of the other obvious reasons—history, getting informed, supporting the Committee—there is simply this one: they will remind you that we are fighting for our very lives, and fire you up to do everything you can to help us win these elections.
The scope of the insurrectionists’ malfeasance—led by Donald Trump, of course—is breathtaking. The evidence for it is overwhelming. The proof that they will keep on carrying out such attacks until they succeed is discouragingly ample.
The X factor? Is us.
We have one election to get it right. We have one last chance to vote freely and sweep them out of office. We have four weeks left to make sure that everyone who can, does so.
I don’t know how to put it more plainly: we are witnessing either the end of our democracy or the end of the Trump movement. It can’t be anything in between. The choice is stark.
I intend to leave everything on the field ensuring that we get the latter outcome. I hope you do, too.
Call Your Senators (find yours here)
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
I’m calling to ask the Senator to co-sponsor and push to pass two common sense gun safety bills: S.190, Ethan’s Law, which might have prevented yesterday’s mass shooting in North Carolina by keeping guns out of the hands of a young person, and S 736, the Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2022. Nothing will change in America until Congress gets serious about gun safety.
[If GOP add:] Republicans can’t claim to be tough on crime while simultaneously allowing these mass shootings to continue. They also can’t claim to support the police when police are begging for stronger gun laws. In fact a police office was killed yesterday, and another one injured. If the Senator values law enforcement officers and wants to help lower crime they must prove it by co-sponsoring these bills now. Thanks.
Extra Credit ✅
OK, same action as yesterday but to the other Los Angeles City Council member.
Please email Gil Cedillo's staffers conrado.terrazas@lacity.org and tony.ricasa@lacity.org with the subject "RESIGN" and the body “The councilmember must resign.” Again, I said a bit more, but basically we’re trying to flood their inboxes, so the body is not super important.
This is Los Angeles related, but this is also about racists in America. Help us.

Give 💰!
Turn PA Blue have racked up high bills for their phonebanking platform—they are getting lots of volunteers, and the more people use it the more expensive it gets. They need donations, and I can tell you unequivocally this is an excellent place to give money anyway. If you can throw a little money at them please do so here.
Win Races—write postcards! ✍🏼
OK, remember a few weeks ago when I wrote you about the AZ state legislative race we needed to raise funds for urgently because the original candidate dropped out and we have a write-in candidate? You guys came through brilliantly and we raised the money we needed to—whooo!
Now we need your help with that race again—this time by writing postcards! You do need to supply your own cards for this effort!
As you likely know, AZ early voting has begun - so Markers For Democracy, the group organizing this effort, is working hard to get through a list of voters we need to inform about the write-in candidate. Can you write a few? If we can get these cards out this weekend, it would be a big help.
Addresses distributed by email. Mail postcards as soon as completed after receiving the addresses.

Help Voters Vote—by TEXTING! 💻
From now until Election Day, Vote America is providing text-based support for voters who need help.
They’ve launched a text-based Voter Helpline where voters can text their questions to a dedicated number, and be matched with a trained volunteer who stays with them until they successfully cast their ballot.
Can you help voters cast their ballots by volunteering with their Voter Helpline?
Help Voters Vote—by CALLING! 📲
Turn PA Blue needs volunteers for their PA Vote by Mail phonebanks. These phonebanks simply involve calling Democrats who have applied for a VBM ballot, making sure they got it, and making sure they know how to return it correctly—PA’s laws are fairly exacting in this regard. So easy! They happen several days a week. Sign up here.
No Resistbot Today.
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk Monday!
